Huna is an ancient Hawaiian healing philosophy based on the understanding that mind, body, and spirit are deeply interconnected. It is built on the idea that life energy (mana) flows through all aspects of a person’s wellbeing, and that emotional or mental imbalance can influence physical health, including chronic pain.
From a Huna perspective, chronic pain is not only physical. It can also be influenced by stored emotional stress, unresolved experiences, and blocked life force energy. Healing focuses on restoring balance across all levels of the self.
Huna teaches us that physical pain is often a manifestation of mental or emotional stress. When our internal energy is blocked by past "baggage," the body speaks through discomfort. Historically, the Hawaiian people experienced very little disease, a testament to the power of staying physically, mentally, and spiritually aligned.
How Huna Approaches Healing:
Emotional release and stress reduction
Improved mind–body awareness
A greater sense of internal balance
Reduced emotional intensity linked to pain
Huna views healing as a process of restoring harmony between thoughts, emotions, and physical experience. Rather than treating pain in isolation, it encourages a holistic understanding of the individual as a unified system.
This alignment process supports the release of internal tension and may help the body shift out of chronic stress patterns.
In Huna tradition, unresolved emotional experiences are seen as stored within the subconscious mind and energy system. When these emotions surface, they are viewed as opportunities for awareness and release.
This process supports:
Recognition of emotional triggers
Release of stored emotional tension
Improved emotional clarity and calm
A cornerstone of Huna healing is Ho’oponopono - a profound process of forgiveness and reconciliation. To heal the body, we must often heal our relationships with others, with the past, and most importantly, with ourselves.
Through Ho’oponopono, we:
Extract the Learnings: We look at difficult experiences to find the wisdom they hold.
Release the Emotion: Once the lesson is learned, the heavy emotional "charge" is released, allowing the memory to exist without causing physical pain.
Restore Integrity: This process clears the path for the body to return to its natural state of health.
Huna emphasizes personal participation in the healing process. It encourages individuals to take an active role in their wellbeing while being supported by guidance rather than dependency.
From this perspective, lasting change comes from internal awareness, responsibility, and conscious emotional release.
Healing in the Huna tradition is a deeply personal commitment. It is based on the belief that only you have the power to create the change you seek.
As your practitioner, I act as a guide—a navigator to assist you on your path. However, the transformation happens through your own willingness to participate and your commitment to your own growth. By taking responsibility for your journey, you move from being a passenger in your pain to being the creator of your own well-being.
